Matched estate and pedestrian entries
Two gates drawn as one composition — shared stile width, shared iron detail, the walk gate at exactly half the main gate's rhythm so they read as a set from the road.

Granite Bay builds to a bigger scale than the East Bay — multi-acre lots, long approach drives, and entrances designed to be seen from the road at speed. What we account for here that Bay Area projects rarely need is sustained heat: 100°F-plus stretches that will move an under-engineered panel and chalk an ordinary finish within a season.

Our Granite Bay custom gate process starts with an on-site consultation. We measure the opening, study the architecture, photograph the surrounding hardscape, and walk you through material and joinery options that will read with your home. From there we deliver a rendered design, a fixed-price quote, and a build schedule.
Materials we work with most often in Granite Bay include Sapele mahogany (Janka 1,510), white oak, ipe, and western red cedar — paired with hot-rolled or blackened steel framing and marine-grade bronze or stainless hardware. Every joint is mortise-and-tenon with drawbore pins, and every panel is finished with a UV-stable penetrating oil chosen for the local climate.
We build single and double swing gates, sliding gates, bi-fold gates, pedestrian entry gates, and matching courtyard or garden gates. Most Granite Bay clients commission a primary driveway gate plus a coordinated walk gate or garden gate so the entrance reads as one composition.
Lead time on a custom build is typically six to twelve weeks from approved design. Installation usually takes two to four days on site, including post-set, gate hanging, automation wiring (if applicable), and final finish touch-up.
Granite Bay favors luxury Mediterranean, Tuscan, and modern ranch homes on multi-acre lots with long entry drives. Sacramento-foothill heat (often 100°F+ in summer) requires UV-stable finishes and operators rated for sustained thermal load.

West-facing with no shade. We increased the reveal between slats to let heat move through the plane and specified our highest-UV finish package.

Charcoal rather than natural, at the owners' request, to sit against a dark stucco elevation. Stainless hardware because the irrigation overspray hits this gate daily.
Forged iron detail on hardwood, dark bronze patina, and a wide low proportion suited to the long Los Lagos approach drives.
Wide horizontal Sapele slats with matte black steel, matched to the low rooflines of the newer ranch-modern builds.
Lots nearer Beals Point favor lighter, more open faces with vertical pickets — privacy matters less than framing the approach.
"We had Heartwood build matching automatic estate gates and a pedestrian entry. The fabrication detail is unlike anything we've seen from local builders."
